Leena Datwani
Executive Director
Leena Datwani, executive director of The H.A.N.D. Foundation joined the organization in 2005 as a research fellow. She brings with her knowledge and experience in the fields of early childhood education and international policy. She previously worked as a research analyst for the World Bank’s flagship annual report- World Development Report 2003 entitled Sustainable Development in a Dynamic World. She has also conducted literature reviews for the World Bank’s Development Economics Vice Presidency unit. She has also been an early childhood educator.
She holds an M.A. from the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in International Economics and International Economics; and a B.A. from William Smith College in Environmental Studies and Economics. She also has a certificate in early childhood education.
Kaveh Basmenji
Program Manager
Kaveh previously worked as the Persian Service director at Radio Free Europe. He has worked at Reuters and the Middle East Times, among others. He is the authour of Tehran Blues: Youth Culture in Iran, and the compiler/editor of Afsaneh: Short Stories by Iranian Women. He has translated several Western literary works into Persian, and published volumes of his selected essays and poetry.
Kaveh studied mechanical engineering in Tehran University of Science and Technology before changing course to journalism. He is a former fellow of Reuters Foundation at Green College, University of Oxford.
Reza Salehnejad
Fellow
Reza Salehnejad received his MSc and PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK. He has taught Economics at Cambridge and City University. He has also completed a book on Rationality, Bounded Rationality and Microfoundations, which will be published by Palgrave Macmillan (2006).
