New Partnership Gives Credit Card Users Option to Fund DAF

Using credit card reward points for charity is not a new concept. Discover and American Express both offer a charitable option to cardholders. But users have to remember to spend them and $16 billion in reward points expire each year.

Charity Charge is a public benefit corporation that makes it even easier to give back. Their MasterCard automatically donates 1 percent of purchases to a charity of choice. They have now partnered with Global Impact to give users the option to accumulate their reward points in a donor-advised fund (DAF). With no startup fee or minimum balance requirements, the charitable giving tool allows individuals to experience the benefits of a DAF with as little as $1 to start.
